Many people have asked about the option to paddle before work on a regular basis. We've started a meetup group to do just that. Call us with any questions, hope to see you on the water! https://www.meetup.com/meetup-group-sVMmUZLX/
Wade Lawson lives an epic life as a Big Wave Surfer, Helicopter Pilot, and a man of curiosity and action. Wade tells of his rags to riches story growing up the son of an Arkansas chicken farmer and the dreams he had of becoming a pilot, and living an incredible life. Wade says you can have this life too and gives a premiere on Big Wave Surfing and flying. Disclaimer—Big Wave Surfing is an extreme sport where accidents and death can occur—it is not a matter of if, but when, in the sport of Big Wave Surfing. https://standuppaddletheworld.com/2017/06/13/1485/
Voyage LA magazine wanted to do a story about how we got started. Here's the interview: "While struggling to paddle a longboard at the Malibu Pier, I saw the big-wave master Laird Hamilton for the first time. He was standing up on a very large board and effortlessly rode waves that he caught with the assistance of what looked like a boat oar." Thank the Laird!
This is a great article from a former student that was published in LA Magazine. "When I fessed up to Wade, he was ecstatic and exhorted me to paddle as far as I could." I think Nathan is going to do some really cool things in the sport of SUP.

I bought my very first surfboard at the Malibu Surf Shack for $700. Within the first ten minutes of riding it, I ran into a rock and it put a quarter sized hole in the deck. I took my dinged up board back to the shop and asked the guy who sold me the board if he could help me fix it. He took the board to the back of the shop and squirted some kind of goop into the cavity. He wiped off the excess with a credit card and lifted my board into the sunlight, thus causing the goop to harden. Within seconds, the goop was hard as a rock. The dude then said, "that will be $40 please." That was the last time I ever paid anyone…

First time to the area? Try paddleboarding. I'll show you how to do it. We have an awesome location in the Cabrillo Marina just behind the Doubletree Hotel. The water is very calm most of the time; in fact, it's one of the best spots in Southern California to learn. The water is clean, the docks are new, my gear is new, the neighbors are nice and you will have a fun time! Paddleboarding is also a great first date. I'm not going to mention any names, but we have a regular customer who brings a different girl every time. Cabrillo Marina isn't really on the map for places to paddle, so you can keep it low-key. This is Krista and me.
