Hi…it’s Wade…your paddleboard instructor. Krista and I are putting together a SUP retreat in Costa Rica this April and we want you to come! Prices are starting at the low, low price of $600 American Dollars – (all prices are per person and are based on double occupancy – two people per room.) See below for the breakdown. Here’s the deal: We have rented out the single nicest house in the surfing village of Tamarindo, Costa Rica from Friday, 4/25/14 until Sunday, 5/04/14. Villa Paraiso (http://www.luxurytamarindo.com) normally goes for twice the price, but we’re buying in bulk and passing the savings down to you. Why am I doing this? I need to give you some back-story. When I was trying to teach myself how to ride waves, I discovered SUP-surfing. SUP…
Just thought I'd mention this...a sup lesson is a perfect present for that special loved one! For the low, low price of 80 American dollars, the recipient of your fabulous gift, gets to spend two hours with me. For 300 dollars, you can buy yourself a one-hour helicopter ride/lesson with me, as well. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, (insert holiday of choice.)
This paddle boarding video was shot at Maverick’s, a huge wave that breaks a half-mile off the coast of Half Moon Bay, CA. The waves here can sometimes get 80 ft. That is big wave charger Ian Wallace. I’m paddle boarding right behind him. You can see me at around 14 seconds. This day the waves were about 20ft. It shows you the capabilities of SUP.
This next video is 9-man outrigger racing. Outrigger paddling is thousands of years old. In 1521, Ferdinand Magellan was sailing around the globe in search of a southern route to Asia, when he discovered the Chamorros in Guam in sailing outriggers. Their speed and maneuverability far surpassed his big boat. My mother is from Guam, so that makes me an expert authority on the subject. I will teach you this stroke.
